These terms are an agreement between you and Commerce Song, LLC, the company that operates Rosa (“Rosa,” “we,” or “us”). They cover texting Rosa, the Rosa pages where you save and view password parts, and this website. By using Rosa, you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we keep and why.

What Rosa is

Rosa is a password helper you use by text message. You text Rosa at 1-864-777-8711, and Rosa replies with a link where you can save or view part of a password for a website.

Rosa is built for people who use the same password everywhere, or who don’t use a password manager at all. The goal is a tool easy enough to actually use that is a real improvement on reusing one password. Rosa isn’t trying to be the most secure password manager available, and it isn’t meant to replace one you already use well.

Rosa is offered in the United States. To use Rosa, you must be at least 18 years old and the owner or authorized user of the mobile number you text from.

Use Rosa the way it’s designed

Rosa works best, and is safest, when each password has two parts: Rosa’s part, a unique part for each website that you save with Rosa, and your private part, which you remember and add yourself. Never give your private part to Rosa.

• Don’t save a complete password with Rosa, and never text a password or any part of one. Save Rosa’s part only on the link Rosa sends you.
• Use a different Rosa part for every website.
• Keep your phone locked, and protect your mobile carrier account with a PIN or passcode.
• Turn on two-step verification on websites that offer it, especially for email and banking.
• Don’t forward Rosa’s links or let others text Rosa as you.

If you save complete passwords, or use Rosa in other ways it isn’t designed for, you do so at your own risk.

What Rosa can’t protect against

We work to keep Rosa secure, and our Privacy Policy describes how. But no service is risk-free, and you should know the limits:

• Anyone who gets into your phone, your text messages, or your phone number (for example, through SIM swapping) may be able to open Rosa’s links and see the parts you saved.
• If Rosa’s stored data were ever exposed at the same time as one of your complete passwords from another website, someone could compare the two to work out your private part.
• Text messages are not end-to-end encrypted.
• Rosa can’t recover your private part. If you forget it, use the website’s password reset.
• Rosa doesn’t ask for your name, email address, or usernames, but a phone number can often be linked to a person, so Rosa is not anonymous.
• Rosa depends on your mobile carrier and on Twilio, our text messaging provider. We aren’t responsible for their outages or mistakes, or for the websites whose passwords you use with Rosa.

Rosa text messages

This section describes Rosa’s text messaging program, provided by Commerce Song, LLC.

• How it starts. You start the conversation by texting Rosa. By texting Rosa, you agree to receive Rosa’s replies at that number.
• What Rosa sends. Replies to your messages: links to save or view a password part, instructions when you text HELP, and confirmations, such as when we delete your data at your request. Rosa may also send rare notices about your use of Rosa, such as a change to its price or to these terms. Rosa does not send marketing or promotional texts.
• Message frequency varies with how often you text Rosa. Usually Rosa sends one reply to each message you send.
• Message and data rates may apply.
• Text STOP to opt out at any time. You’ll receive one message confirming that you’ve opted out, and Rosa won’t text you again or be able to answer your requests until you text START.
• Text HELP for help, or email rosa@commercesong.com.
• Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
• Rosa’s public number is 1-864-777-8711. We also use a separate test number that only Rosa’s operator texts. It isn’t offered to the public, and these terms apply to it too.
• We don’t share your mobile number or your text messaging consent with anyone for marketing. See our Privacy Policy.

Price

Rosa is free to use today. Our homepage describes a paid plan we may offer in the future. If we start charging, we will tell you before any charge applies, and you won’t be charged unless you choose to pay.

Your phone number and your data

Rosa recognizes you only by your phone number. Phone numbers get reassigned, so before you give up a number, retrieve what you need and ask us to delete your data. You can ask us to delete everything Rosa has stored for your number at any time; our Privacy Policy explains how.

Fair use

Don’t use Rosa to break the law, to store other people’s passwords without their permission, to send spam, to overload or attack the service, or to try to reach data that isn’t yours. We may limit or stop service to any number that misuses Rosa.

Changes to Rosa and these terms

Rosa is a small, free service. We may change it, pause it, or shut it down, and we may suspend or end any number’s access at any time, including to protect Rosa or its users. If we plan to shut Rosa down, we’ll try to tell you by text in advance so you can retrieve your saved parts. When we change these terms, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If you keep using Rosa after a change, you accept the new terms.

No warranty

You use Rosa at your own risk. Rosa is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t promise that Rosa will always be available, free of errors, or secure, or that saved data will never be lost. Keep another way back into your important accounts, such as each website’s password reset.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Commerce Song, LLC and its owners, members, managers, and service providers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, account access, or profits, arising from your use of Rosa, including if a password or account is compromised. Our total liability for any claim relating to Rosa is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Rosa in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

If you misuse Rosa

To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover the reasonable costs, including legal fees, of any claim brought against Commerce Song, LLC because you broke these terms or the law while using Rosa.

Legal details

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Commerce Song, LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any claim relating to Rosa must be brought within one year after it arises, in the state or federal courts of that state. If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term right away, we haven’t waived it. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Rosa.
